In the third quarter of 2025, the top news and magazine applications on the Android platform in Kenya showed varied performance trends, based on data from Sensor Tower.

X displayed fluctuations in its weekly revenue, peaking at around $1.8K in early August before declining to approximately $1K by the end of September. The app's downloads started strong with over 23K in early July but gradually decreased to 15.7K by the end of the quarter. The active user base remained robust, reaching over 3.1M at the start of July and stabilizing around 2.7M by the end of September.

Citizen Digital saw a decline in downloads from 13K at the beginning of July to about 7.9K by the end of September. Active users followed a similar trend, decreasing from 187K to 126K over the quarter.

Breaking News - Live Headlines experienced a decrease in downloads, starting at 11.3K and ending at 7.5K. However, active users remained relatively stable with minor fluctuations, maintaining numbers between 150K and 170K.

Opera News: breaking & local downloads began at 9.6K in early July, dropping significantly to 4.1K by the end of September. Despite the decline in downloads, active users showed an increase from 170K to 184K.
